483,000 of Jakartans Vaccinated, Deputy Governor Says

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria stated that the capital city government has inoculated the first doses of Covid-19 vaccine to 483,492 people. They are the healthcare workers, public service workers, and the elderlies.

"The total target is 8,815,157 throughout Jakarta," he said when met at Al Azhar Islamic High School in Kebayoran, South Jakarta on Saturday, March 13.

Meanwhile, the recipient of the second dose of the shots is recorded at 109,699 people, as per March 12 data.

Riza said there are a total of 112,000 healthcare workers, 911,000 elderlies, and 1.9 million public service workers as the target of the Covid-19 vaccine recipients. In addition, there are 183,327 educational staffs that are included in the public service workers group.

According to the deputy governor, Jakarta has received 1.6 million of the Covid-19 vaccine vials from the central government. The capital city Administration is targetting to jab 40-50 people per day.

"This is to accelerate [the vaccination program]," said the Gerindra Party polictian.

The government targeted healthcare workers as the first recipients of the first phase of Covid-19 vaccination. The second phase of the vaccination targeted the elderlies and public service workers which was started on February 17.
